Director’s Year End Message
I just wanted to take a quick minute and thank everybody who has been involved with making the Junior Eagles program such a huge success these past three years. A special thanks to our lead sponsor, John Elway AutoNation, thanks for helping the program enjoy so much success and all your support for the kids! Having John Elway AutoNation involved has definitely allowed us to raise the bar. Winning two State Championships in one year is going to be a tough act to follow.

Putting league and tournament success aside, I believe the program succeeded in fulfilling its’ mission to teach and develop. As coaches we have an obligation to continually develop our knowledge and pass this on to the players and parents, ultimately developing the program as a whole.

Has it been an easy journey? Not always, but nothing worthwhile doing is. It takes a great deal of hard work and dedication from everyone involved… from the family’s dedication to the hockey lifestyle, to the rink staff that takes care of our ice. Has it been worth it? Absolutely.

So, from the Colorado Jr. Eagles, thank you to everyone who has helped out and supported this program from it’s inception, and continues to do so. The Jr. Eagles program has built up a huge head of steam in its first three years of existence and we have some exciting growth opportunities to announce for the coming years, so keep your eye's peeled to the website for new information and we'll see you at the rink!

2005-2006 Midget Major CAHA State Champions
Breckenridge CO, 03-12-2006

Fresh off their CDYHL league championship the Colorado Junior Eagles midget major team came into the CAHA state championship tournament the number 1 seeded team in the tournament. This setup a rematch with Pueblo in the first round. Pueblo played a smart game and lead 4-3 with less than two minutes to go in the game. The Eagles pulled their goalie and Aaron Lam found a way to put the puck in the net with only 1:23 to go on the clock sending the game into overtime. In overtime the Eagles found themselves on the powerplay and won the game with a beautiful play by Dominic Guttormson and Chris Aarvig who put the puck top shelf.

The Eagles would go on to play a well coached hard working Foothills team in the final game. The Eagles got the lead early on a pretty play by Jordan Guttormson and Collin Kuhn but Foothills wasn't ready to quit and tied up the game in the second period. The third period was a goalie showdown and both the Foothills goalie and the Eagles Daniel Wood played fantastic sending the game into overtime in a 1-1 tie. No team could get the puck past either goalie in the first overtime setting up DOUBLE OVERTIME. In double OT Hank Stabenau sent a brilliant long pass directly on the tape of "Mr. Clutch" Chris Aarvig who blazed a trail and faked out the goalie bankhanding the puck in the net to secure the victory!

The Colorado Junior Eagles swept the CAHA Midget division winning both the Midget Minor and Major divisions.

Eagles Midget Minor's Win State

minor-a-state-champs-webBreckenridge CO, 03-12-2006

The Jr. Eagles Minor A team was undefeated in league play (13-0-2) and won their first two league playoff games (including a 4-3 win over Aspen) before losing to Aspen twice last Sunday (5-4 in overtime and 2-1) in the league championships.

The Eagles entered the State Playoffs as the number three seed, facing Aspen for the fourth time in eight days. The Junior Eagles outworked Aspen throughout the game, recording a 3-0 win behind goalie Josh Smith, who recorded the shutout.

The Junior Eagles' opponent in the championship game, Hyland Hills Midget Minor A-1, came into the game with a record of 37-0-2, having won every tournament they entered and ranked third in the nation at the Minor A level according to one website. But the Junior Eagles had scrimmaged Hyland Hills on February 19 and felt confident that, as the game wore on, the bigger Jaguars would tire.

This game plan worked to perfection. Key to the Minor A effort was the outstanding effort of goalie Josh Smith, who stopped 31 Jaguar shots. Zach Bever scored an unassisted goal less than two minutes into the game to get the Junior Eagles onto the board and Seamus O'Connor, assisted by Robbie Jones, tied the score at 2-2 with just 1:56 remaining in the second period. After a quick Jaguars goal to start the third period, Reilly McCluskey netted the game tying goal with just 2:30 remaining in the third period, assisted by Lee Foley. Reilly McCluskey also converted the game winner 5 minutes and 59 seconds into the overtime, assisted by Wyatt Lamond.

Final Score: Jr. Eagles 4, Hyland Hills 3.

2005-2006 Midget Major League Champions!
2005-2006_league_champs Congratulations to the Colorado Junior Eagles Midget Major team that won the CDYHL League Championship this past weekend.

The Eagles entered the tournament as the number one seed and faced a very well coached DCC team on Friday morning in game number one. DCC kept the game close until the very end and the Eagles escaped with a 4-3 victory.

This setup game two which featured the Eagles and Pueblo who had given the Eagles their only loss in the regular season. Game two was tied 0-0 entering the third period and remained that way until deep into the third when the Eagles opened things up and went on to score five goals in the third period and shutout Pueblo 5-0.

Pueblo advanced over Aspen in game number four which setup a Pueblo vs. Eagles rematch in the championship round. This time the Eagles were leaving nothing to chance and started scoring goals early in the first period and didn't stop scoring goals until the final buzzer sounded. The Jr. Eagles went on to shutout Pueblo 8-0 to win the CDYHL Midget Major League Championship.

Jr. Eagles Midget Major's win Eddie Mcpherson Tournament in Casper
12005_eddie_mc_champs_small-med11-21-2005 Casper Wyoming.
The Colorado Jr Eagles Midget Major team went undefeated and won the annual Eddie Mcpherson memorial tournament in Casper Wyoming.

The Eagles got off to a fast start by beating the host team "The Oilers" from Casper on Friday night in front of a packed arena with local news channels filming all the excitement. The Eagles beat the hard working Oilers 6-0. Later that same night the Jr. Eagles knocked off Team Wyoming 5-2

The next afternoon the Eagles faced the Hyland Hills AA '89 team which gave the Eagles a fantastic game in which the Eagles won 3-1. The last pool play game for the Eagles had them facing a very talented Jackson Hole Wyoming team but the Jr. Eagles were on a role at this point and won 5-0.

The championship game featured the Jr. Eagles vs. the Hyland Hills Jaguars. The Eagles started extremely slow and were dominated by the Jaguars in the first period but due to awesome goaltending by the Eagles the first period ended 0-0. After a quick ice make and what must have been an inspiring speech by the Eagles coaching staff it was all Eagles from there on out. The Eagles went on to win the championship 5-0 over the Hyland Hills Jaguars.
