The Jr.
Eagles Mites and first year Squirts were showcased at Pepsi Center
during the Colorado vs. Vancouver game on March 28th. A short game was
played by our youngest Eagles after the first period, and after the
second period, six shooters were chosen to try and score against our
goalies in a "shoot-out".
The highlight of the evening was an interview done with Jonathon
"NACHO" Vigil who was very candid and received great reactions from the
Pepsi Center crowd!
A big "THANK YOU" goes out to everyone who purchased tickets for
this event. The Jr. Eagles set a record in sales for this promotion at
the Pepsi Center, and we have been assured that we will be invited back
in future seasons. Thank you also goes out to our Mite Manager Kevin
Stapleton for his effort to make this special night a reality!

On Feburary
24th and 25th the Colorado Jr. Eagles Mite Team participated in their
first full ice Tournament in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Eagles parents battled
50 m.p.h. winds, ground blizzards, and road closures to reach this
Tournament and it was all worth it!
We made great progress with the
youngest members of our Eagles organization! These players faced "FULL
ICE" and "OFF SIDES" for the first time and by the last game all had a
basic understanding and showed a great deal of effort to stay "ON
SIDES". Our Mite players also got their first experience playing 5 on 5
games, in which they all did a great job lining up for face-offs and
attempting to stay in Offensive and Defensive positions.
A reminder....... these players have only played "half ice 4 on 4 scrimmages" this season.
Our team lost the first game of the tournament 4 to 0 to the Rock
Springs "Miners", but worked hard to win the next two games against the
host team Cheyenne "Capitols" and Laramie Youth Hockey earning a spot
in Sunday's Championship game.
The Eagles played a very competitive game and lost to a more
experienced Rock Springs team 4 to 3 in the final seconds of the
Championship game on Sunday.
We all should be proud of our youngest players as they played with a
lot of effort and overcame a lack of personal experience to achieve
this 2nd place finish!

We would
like to let everyone know that our Mite team had their first game on
Wednesday Dec. 6 against Foothills. The boys played great, worked hard
and had a lot of fun. It was a fun experience for all of the coaches
involved. We are very excited about our Mite program this year as we
have four upcoming games and some jamboree's in the works.
We would also like to thank Kevin Stapleton, who has volunteered to be
the team Manager and is doing a great job for us getting these games
setup.
The Mites play again this Saturday night Dec. 9 @ 7:30pm @ Foothills
and Sunday Dec 10 @ 1:45pm @ Foothills if anyone wants to come watch it
is fun to watch.
Thanks again for all of the support and we are looking forward to the rest of the season.
Chris Gassman, Mike Caple, George Wolff
