Scott Harris to coach the girls in 2011-2012 PDF Print E-mail

The Colorado Junior Eagles are excited to announce that Scott Harris will be coaching the girls U19AA and U14 teams next season in 2011-2012. For the past 3 years Eric Guttormson has coached and coordinated the girls hockey program for the Colorado Junior Eagles yet has decided that it's time to focus more on coordinating the program and step back from coaching. The Eagles do not take coaching selections lightly and believe they have found the perfect person to take over the girls teams which has a mission to create a positive, fun, yet competitive girls hockey program. Eric Guttormson will remain as program coordinator and Scott Harris will take over the coaching duties for the team.

Scott is a level 4 coach and has been involved with coaching hockey since 2003.  He has been involved with ages U8, U10A, 10AA, U12A, U12AAA, U14, U14AA, and U16Tier II that played mainly U19AA girls from across the country. Scott just finished up co-coaching the MSGHL U16 Tier II team that finished 3rd place in the National Tier II tournament in Anaheim, CA.  Scott has also coached competitive soccer for the last 6 years and currently coach a “U14 Classic 3” team with Bear Creek.  Scott started to playing hockey back in 1991 and continued for many years playing mainly in a “C” men’s division.  Scott has been around a lot of top coaches in the past 20 years and has learned many great things from them.  These days Scott enjoys coaching much more than playing, but still manages to hit the ice still every now and then.

Scott welcomes this new opportunity with a massive amount of enthusiasm and a strong understanding of what the Eagles Girls Program is all about.

"I am looking forward to continue to teach the girls hockey and hockey systems.  I firmly believe in running face-off plays when possible and have a method to set up the play to score the goal.  Conditioning is a very important in being able to play an entire hockey game.  I want to ensure that the girls will be very competitive within the U19 Division of the MSGHL this coming season."

Eagles Girls survive scare in Gunnison and prepare for League Tournament PDF Print E-mail

The Colorado Junior Eagles girls U19 team made local, national, and international news when they suffered severe carbon monixed poisoning in Gunnison on Febuary 6th.

And while that event altered the end of the season dramatically the Eagles girls will still qualify for the MSGL tournament just not in the bracket that they were hoping to compete at. The important part is that all the players and parents survived and are on the road to recovery.

The support and compassion demonstrated by our players and our parents during this event once again demonstrate why our Eagles team is a very special group indeed.

The 2010-2011 season is winding down but will not be soon forgot.
