In their inaugural season the Colorado Jr. Eagles girls U19 team won the Mountain States Girls Hockey League State Championship 1-0 over the Colorado Select.

The Jr. Eagles were the number one seed coming into the tournament and therefore earned a bye in game one on Friday night. On Saturday the Eagles girls faced a very scrappy Team New Mexico and came away with a 4-0 win. Kalli Kube scored a hat trick in the game which was highlighted by a beautiful short-handed goal. That win placed the Jr. Eagles into the championship game against a very talented Colorado Select team.

The championship game was extremely well played by both teams. Both goalies turned away every shot until deep into the 3rd period when Lauren Johnson found the top corner to put the Eagles up 1-0. Eagles goalie Shannon Escalante showed why she is one of the premier goalies in the state by turning away everything that the Select threw at her. With time running down the Eagles had to kill off a couple penalties and the Select pulled their goalie adding an extra attacker. Shannon stood tall in net and the Eagles strong defense lead by team captain Lexe Svisco ran out the clock giving the Eagles the win and the championship.
